Genesis 1-3

I am reading through the bible histrionically. I hope you join me on this journey. The bible I am using is the Women of Faith Bible and it is a New King James Bible.

I discovered a new word in reading this..the word is firmament. It means everything above earth.

God says on the Seventh day we are to rest. Does that mean Sunday? I don't think so. What if your job makes it so you have to work on Sunday are you sinning? I don't think so. I think that as long as you take one day during the week to rest and reflect on what God has done for you that you are keeping his command.

In this passage the Bible talks about God creating man and also creating woman. Without man we as women wouldn't be here. God created us to submit to men. I know this is all against popular culture but we need to submit to the men in our lives. I may not be married but I have a dad and I have to submit to him by obeying what he says. I may be 40 but still have to listen to what he says.

Eve sinned by listening to the serpent and eating from the tree of knowledge of good and evil. Sometimes when we are talking about this part of scripture we leave out that it is the knowledge of good and evil. It wasn't so much about good and evil as much as the knowledge of it. After eating of the tree they realized they were naked and clothed themselves. As God was walking through the garden they were afraid and hid. Even though God knew what had happened he asked and gave them their consequences.

To Eve it was all the problems we as women have and to Adam he was told he had to work. They were also banished from the garden.

So I guess the moral of the story is even though it may look pretty and inviting that snake is not a good thing. Always ask God before doing anything and let him guide your life.

I have a hard time doing this and hope that as I read through the Bible and share my thoughts here that I will learn to do that.

Next reading is Genesis 4-7
